Those That Will Survive The World War On The Horizon Are Those Preparing For It, Everyone Else Is on Their Own - The First To Die Will Be Those Assuming The Government Will Save Them
Watching the news, whether on television, or online, from the protests in America by people that seem to think enforcing this nation's law is somehow a bad thing, to the tensions and wars around the world, it becomes hard to predict whether a civil war within the U.S. or a world world which will directly involve the U.S., is going to happen first.
The other day I discussed the rioting going on in liberal enclaves around the country, and to prepare to protect yourself, your family, home, neighborhood and city in preparation of a civil war breaking out, but as we observe what is occurring outside of the U.S., it is apparent that we should be just as ready for a world war, only this time with attacks either within America, or against our vulnerable infrastructure.
Over the years it has become very clear that a significant percentage of the population right here in the good ole US of A, feel so entitled they that they hold a number of completely unreasonable, and illogical beliefs.
One, they believe that criminals should be coddled, and should not be treated as criminals. This applies to those that illegally crossed over our borders, as well as rioters, murderers, shoplifters, etc....
Proof of my assertions come via the rioters in California and how the media pushes and allows claims of "mostly peaceful" protests, despite our very eyes seeing the videos of the arsonists, attacks against law enforcement, and federal facilities. Or the laws created in that same state that allows shoplifters to get away with theft, as long as it isn't above $1,000 dollars. Or the public debates with claims by liberal pundits, politicians and media personalities making ludicrous assertions that those that cross over the border illegally aren't really criminals.
It is ludicrous because the very act of sneaking over the border is a crime.
Another aspect of the entitled mentality of a growing number of Americans is how they believe that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. They bitterly complain about having to pay back student loans, despite the fact that they took out those loans themselves, and the very definition of loan is something that is expected to be paid back.
Perhaps the most dangerous part of the entitlement mindset is the belief that the government will be there at the drop of a hat when an emergency happens. Whether a weather emergency, a natural disaster, or an attack on the U.S. by terrorists, or in the event of world war, a direct attack on American soil.
It is very disturbing to see how unprepared Americans are for a snowstorm in the winter as we have seen the reports and images of empty store shelves from last minute panic shopping.
Now just imagine an attack on the power grid, and what those same panic buyers will do if they have no store to go empty the shelves of and they have to survive on just what is already in their houses.
Months ago, when I wrote about how only 6 percent of households even had a generator in case of electrical failures, I realized exactly how unprepared most Americans were for a major disaster or attack,.
Now watching the wars unfold around the world, any one of them potentially blowing into a major world war, knowing how vulnerable our grid is, and how utterly unprepared most Americans are, and how violent whole sections of the population can get, and how much worse they will get if everything around them falls apart, it seems a good time to try to get more people to wake up and prepare for what is on the horizon.
Most ANP readers have stocked up on freeze dried foods, or at least have a certain amount of extra food and water in case of emergencies, and many have other things considered "prepping" gear, but with war almost at our doorstep, it is time to consider a few basic facts and think about whether they would survive if the nation's power grid were knocked out by a cyber or physical attack next month.
A few basic facts that get lost in the noise of political bickering in the U.S.

As old fossil fuel-fired power plants retire and new resources fail to keep up with demand, grids across Canada and the United States face mounting resource adequacy challenges over the next 10 years, finds a new report by the non-profit North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
I think it is pretty clear that most Americans wouldn't survive a grid down scenario, especially since some estimates claim that if the entire power grid in America went down, it could take decades...yes decades, to restore it in full.
Some issues can be resolved in hours, others could take days, but a complete take down of the U.S. power grids, would take months, even years to fully restore, if it could be fully restored at all. The ability to simply obtain transformers could be limited.
Another failure of American leadership over decades and decades, is that America alone, doesn't have the manufacturing capability of producing enough transformers, or other critical parts to restore a fully functional power grid.
The manufacturing landscape for grid components has shifted dramatically over the past decade. Once dominated by American production, today about 60% of specialized electrical parts come from overseas factories.
Supply constraints affect many materials essential to grid infrastructure. Copper, semiconductor chips, and rare-earth elements face particularly tight markets, with fabricators reporting backlogs of 6-12 months for certain components used in high-voltage applications.
The fact is if the entire grid was knocked out, whether by an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), or a direct physical attack, or even a cyber attack, we would be pushed back to the 1800s technology-wise. Out ancestors would have survived, many lived in a time before homes had electricity, but in a world of computers, internet, smart phones, and where everything from water to phone services is run on the web, most Americans would die.
WAR IS ON THE HORIZON....
One doesn't need to read the media "spin" on events happening across the globe to be able to see, via video, first person accounts, or direct statements from world leaders that are not subject to interpretation or spin, to understand that we are already in the beginning stages of world war.
Many that read Independent News are prepared for disasters and events that the "entitled" crowd are not prepared for, but even those of us that run websites that deal with prepping issues, originally made recommendations for survivalists that should be updated.
Gas generators are one of those issues. We see weather events and figure if a short term power outage occurred, a gas generator could save your perishables, and keep the lights on, but even those may not be enough.
If war comes to our shores, or even if a world war didn't directly hit on American soil, gas shortages would be a likely, even probable long term issue, so an updated recommendation would be solar generators.
