On December 9, 2025, President Trump held a roundtable discussion focusing on US farmers. The roundtable was attended by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Senator John Boozman, John Hoven, Deb Fischer, and Representative Austin Scott among others. President Trump announced that $12,000,000,000 in aid to US farmers as economic assistance will be sectioned out from this year's tariffs. This assistance is meant to provide relief to farmers as they get this year's harvest to market and look ahead to preparing for next year's crops. The Trump Administration is also focused on removing excessive regulations on farming equipment as well.
On December 9, 2025, the White House published the articlePresident Trumps Politico Interview: Democrats Lost Control I Took it Backwhere President Trump reflects upon his progress since January 2025. He discussed the methods by which he is reversing the economic wreckage left by the autopen administration, how his policies are unleashing a surge in investment in the US, the way in which he has slammed the door on illegal border crossings as well as drug smuggling, and restoring the America First agenda abroad. The full, unedited, transcript is available here.
On December 9, 2025, the White House released yet another articlePresident Trump Delivers Progress on Lowering Costs With Much More Relief on the Waypromoting the President's work on inflation, wages, gas prices, housing costs, grocery prices, and everything else reducing the inflation incurred over the autopen administration's reign. Most of which we have not seen in our homes or on our kitchen tables at this point, especially for those on a fixed income (i.e., retirement or disability). Those of us in the westernmost states have seen little change in our gas prices (for me, personally, they have risen since May 2025). I do realize that many of the changes that have been made will take some time to come to fruition, I just question whether they will come fast enough to impact the mid-term election process. Speaking of mid-term elections, when will the EOs on election integrity be codified by Congress?

I had lived to see the nation endure. I was not born to lead, but I helped this country keep its soul.
Today's Patriot is Dolley Payne (Todd, Madison) was born May 20, 1768 in New Garden, Guilford County (present-day Greensboro), North Carolina of Irish, Scottish, French, and English descent. Dolley was the first daughter of 9 children. One year after Dolley's birth, the family moved to Virginia eventually settling on a farm outside of Scotchtown.
Dolley experienced a strict Quaker upbringing and education as she worked on the farm with the rest of the family. When Dolley was 15, the family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dolley has been described as "one of the fairest of the fair." Her father died when she was 22.
Dolley's father arranged her marriage to John Todd, a Philadelphia lawyer even though Dolley rejected John previously. The two were married January 7, 1790 at a Quaker meeting house in Philadelphia. They had 2 children. In October 1793, both her husband and one of her sons died from yellow fever. She raised her remaining son on no income because even though her husband left her money, her brother-in-law, who was the estate executor refused to release the funds. New York Senator, Aaron Burr, assisted her in her law efforts to claim the funds owed her from her husband's will. Aaron was also named guardian of Dolley's surviving son.
Aaron Burr also introduced Dolley to James Madison, a long-time friend of his. James, at 43, was a confirmed bachelor until he met Dolley, who was 26 at the time. The two were married September 15, 1794 in Philadelphia. In 1797, James moved the family to Montpelier, the Madison family plantation in Orange County, Virginia. In 1800 the family moved to Washington when James became Secretary of State to Thomas Jefferson.
In March 1809, James became president and moved Dolley into the White House. Dolley refurbished the White House in a Greek style with American made furnishings. Today's Red Room was a sitting room and today's Blue Room was the drawing room. Dolley was also known for her social skills. During her time as FLOTUS, she presided over dinners, social events, and "Wednesday evening drawing rooms(aka Parlor Politics)." Dolley wielded significant political influence through these social events. Dolley's role as political hostess during James' presidency earned her the title "first First Lady" and this influence helped shape expectations for future First Ladies.
In 1817, the Madisons returned to Montpelier. James died in 1836. Again, she was left with financial difficulties, this time due to the Panic of 1837, her lifestyle choices, and her son's spending habits. She sold James' political papers to Congress. She sold the Montpelier plantation and moved in with her sister. In 1844, Dolley was given a lifetime seat on the House Floor, an unprecedented honor.
