On November 10, 2025, President Trump issued the Proclamation Veterans Day, 2025 acknowledging the courage, honor, and dedicated service of US Veterans. Veterans, though their service to our great country, deserve loyalty, respect, and support from everyone. They are the reason our nation is free, our Republic secured, and our way of life is made possible. Freedom rests upon those who are willing to defend it. The Trump Administration is working to provide our Veterans with the benefits they earned and the services they need. On May 9, 2025 President Trump signed EO 14296 Keeping Promises to Veterans and Establishing a National Center for Warrior Independence (discussed in my May 10, 2025 ANP Article) which expands housing for up to 6,000 additional homeless Veterans by 2028. Additionally, Veterans receiving Social Security will no longer pay taxes on that income through the One Big Beautiful Bill (an index to my discussions on the OBBB can be found in my August 2, 2025 ANP Article). Their first combat action was in Nassau in 1776. Marines are ruthless in battle as lethal guardians of liberty and justice. The USMC has always answered with strength, courage, and unyielding honor whenever our Nation's liberty has been challenged. The USMC remains as the shield and spear of our Nation. They are courageous, disciplined, and relentless in their duty. While their official motto is "Semper Fidelis" (meaning always faithful), the unofficial motto is "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." The USMC has been instrumental in maintaining the freedoms and liberties of our great nation. Their names are carved in our history from the Battle of Nassau, the halls of Montezuma, and the shores of Tripoli.

On November 11, 2025, the White House published a Presidential Message on Victory Day for World War I reminding us that 107 years ago today, November 11, 1918, we witnessed the triumphant conclusion of World War I defending the causes of liberty, sovereignty, and human dignity when Germany was forced to its knees by the Allies. This war was a critical turning point for the US Military Forces revolutionizing battlefield medicine, nature of warfare, and both land & sea weaponry. Today is day 42 of the Schumer Shutdown and it is NOT over yet. Yes, the Senate finally passed an AMENDED HR5371, extending the document to 394 pages; however, because it was AMENDED, it needs to return to the House for a vote.

Now the amended bill returns to the House. Speaker Johnson has recalled House members to return to vote on the Amended HR5371. There are currently 219 Republicans, 213 Democrats, and 3 Vacancies (2 Democrats died, 1 Republican resigned).
Luckily, House bills only need a simple majority vote in the House because after passing the House, the bill is usually referred to the Senate. If they accept the amended Senate bill, and it passes with a simple majority vote, the bill goes to the President and government reopens until January 31, 2026 when the continuing resolution expires.
If the House decides to change anything in the bill, once the revisions pass with a simple majority, the bill returns to the Senate where three-fifths of the Senate (60 members) must again start voting to approve it.
The Twentieth Amendment covering Terms of office was ratified January 23, 1933. It is comprised of 6 sections:
Section 1
The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.
Section 2
The Congress shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3d day of January, unless they shall by law appoint a different day.
Section 3 (succession for Presidency)
If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.
The Congress may by law provide for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the House of Representatives may choose a President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them, and for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the Senate may choose a Vice President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them.
Section 5
Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect on the 15th day of October following the ratification of this article.
Section 6 (unanimously ratified January 23, 1933)
This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission.
