I am going to describe a scene and ask readers to consider it for a moment.
Man is looking for a car to break into, and the cops are called about this guy checking a bunch of locked cars. Cops come, guys tries to flee. cops catch him, there is a struggle between four cops and this guy they cannot subdue. Guy pulls a knife, slashes and inures two cops, and gets shot by the officer he stabbed and/or slashes. Later this man dies in the hospital.
Here is one of the reports describing the incident that occurred from July 23, 2026, by Wisconsin State Journal:
Madison Police said officers were called to the neighborhood about 1 p.m. Wednesday on a report of someone trying to enter parked vehicles. Police said officers found the suspect, but he drove away on a bicycle. Officers saw the man about 30 minutes later, and he either fell off or was pulled off his bike.
A struggle ensued and police said the man pulled out a knife when he was being arrested and injured an officer.
Madison Police do not wear body cameras, but police said there might be footage on a dash camera.
Bystander videos show three officers trying to subdue the man. A fourth officer runs up and yells "Taser Taser." Police say a Taser was deployed but did not work.
One of the officers fires his weapon three times, hitting the suspect, who later died.
Later reports indicate that two officers were injured, but no information on how bad either of those injuries were.
My reaction upon first seeing the story on July 23, was anyone that pulls a knife on cops trying to arrest, detain, question or subdue him, should expect to get shot.
ENTER BLACK LIVES MATTER
Evidently if the the man is in a higher-than-normal crime area and happens to be black, it is a reason to protest to the point where city events have to be cancelled due to the violence that generally follows Black Lives Matter wherever they go.
Via CNN, not exactly a "trusted" source, so I did verify the cancelling of events elsewhere just to confirm. The use of CNN is to show how their "coverage" is geared to literally fan the flames of discontent and racial division.
Corey Ruiz, who is identified as Black or Latino in Wisconsin court records, was shot and killed by a Madison police officer on Wednesday after a brief scuffle at an intersection in the city’s most liberal neighborhood just yards away from a popular 52-year-old food co-op.
A "brief scuffle" they say. Nowhere in the article itself does it mention the man pulled a knife, nor mention the injured officers.

Here is CNN trying to fan the flames:
It marks the third time since 2012 that Madison police have shot and killed someone in the same neighborhood. The shooting has sparked renewed calls for police reforms and forced the city to once again reckon with calls from the Black community to address racial justice issues.
I don't care if the man was Hispanic, black, white, or green with polka dots, when you "scuffle" with police, pull a knife, and injure two cops, and a taser has no effect in stopping you, one should expect to get shot.
Ok, back to the events.
One of the events that was cancelled is described in the following manner:
Protesters took to the streets hours after the shooting, disrupting a popular Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra outdoor concert at the state Capitol that attracts about 30,000 every week in the summer.
The scene captures a familiar divide in Madison, a city that is more diverse than the state overall but still 70% white. Protesters, many of whom were Black, stood over white concert attendees sitting at tables near the stage that cost as much as $1,800 to rent for the night.
Concert organizers canceled the event.
Other events that were cancelled and/or postponed include a grand opening of a new public market, a popular neighborhood festival called AtwoodFest, and a popular downtown farmers market that attracts about 20,000 people each week around the Capitol building, shut down nearly four hours earlier than usual "in solidarity with protesters."
Madison Police Chief John Patterson, who is white, has tried to calm tensions, even allowing protesters to overtake a news conference that he was leading along with the mayor inside the police department’s downtown headquarters on Thursday.
What they neglect to mention in the article is that as the Police Chief just hands the press conference over to the protester, another one stands behind him, at the podium, with a sigh that reads "Corrupt cops deserve to die too!!! F*ck you kill Peterson."
On July 28, Townhall gives us more background on the man that was shot as well as some of the events showing how this is escalating.
First, let us meet the man they are protesting over:
Things aren't going well in Madison. The Wisconsin capital has been under siege, held hostage by angry leftists who are upset that police shot a career criminal in self-defense last week. Cory Durrell Ruiz had at least 40 arrests on his record including for violent felonies, he was freed from prison back in May and already failed to comply with the terms of his supervised release.

According to Newsweek, although you have to scroll way down in their article about Ruiz, his crimes include retail theft and resisting or obstructing an officer in 2024, he was convicted of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer, In 2021, Ruiz had been convicted of resisting an officer with substantial bodily harm, prior convictions for felony cocaine and marijuana possession in 2014, and a misdemeanor disorderly conduct in 2007.
According to the TownHall report cited above, BLM has set up another "autonomous zone, complete with borders and their own version of ICE."
Protesters have also been harassing people and business owners
The supplies have been flowing in!
It looks like they are planning to stay a while, which always leads to violence as they start demanding more and more until the police finally get to go-ahead from their liberal city officials to break it up and take back the streets of the Capitol.
These are the same tactics used in the 2020 BLM riots, which left us with images like the one below:
BOTTOM LINE
These protests have not gone nation-wide yet like the George Floyd riots did in 2020, but BLM's involvement almost guarantees that escalation will continue.
The media, as shown in the CNN report above is fanning the flames deliberately by refusing to detail that Ruiz was a violent criminal, arrested 40 times, and that he pulled a knife on a cop and injured him before said cop shot him.
The "conspiracy theorist" in me wonders about the timing of these protests, as well as the escalation, as we near the midterms. Were marching orders given out by Democrats to what has been seen as their "paramilitary" arms, meaning Antifa and BLM, to get civil unrest started as some sort of election strategy?
Just something to think about as we watch this story continue to unfold.
